The Bioscope

For those of you who don’t know, The Bioscope is an ‘Independent Cinema located in downtown Johannesburg’ or more known as Maboneng Precinct. Tonight (1st &   2nd August 2014) they have the screening of “Famous for not being famous”, a documentary about a renowned South African musician James Phillips. The film starts at 19:30, but be sure to arrive a bit earlier to grab yourself some pizza and craft beer from the Chalkbaord Café. They have a ‘ticket+pizza+drink combo’ special when you purchase your tickets online. More info here.

Theatre – OTHELLO at P.O.PArt

Situated in the heart of Jozi, POPArt is an independent theatre and performing arts centre in the heart of Joburg City. Showing this Friday & Saturday, ‘William Shakespeare’s Othello is a new & racy version of William Shakespeare’s “OTHELLO”, directed by Denel Honeyball’. 1-2 August, starts at 20:00. Brunch inside 21 icons with MOAD

Every first Saturday of the month Brunch is an event held at the MOAD where a special brunch menu is served by local suppliers. Brunch is served from 11:00 and anything from pancakes to Mexican breakfasts can be expected. The current exhibition held at MOAD, 21 Icons can be seen until 17 August 2014. Collective Market

Now trading on every first Saturday of the month, the vibrant Collective market will be open from 9:00 to 15:00 at 9 Kramer road in Kramerville. If you have not been to this trendy market, this Saturday is a good day to pop by. Be sure to find some beautiful locally designed fashion and goods and if you are looking for a spot for brunch or lunch you’ll be at the perfect place as Collective are teaming up with Mother Truckers; where local food trucks from Johannesburg assembles at the market to make their delicious specialties which never fails to sooth your taste buds.

Market on Main – Maboneng

Market On Main is situated in the Maboneng Precinct in Jeppestown, Johannesburg. The market is open every Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm as well as Night Markets that are held on the first Thursday of every month. The market captures the inner city vibrance of down town Johannesburg in a unique and uplifting way, where local traders from Gauteng come to sell their beautifully crafted goods. The Box – Stand Up Comedy at POPArt
